5 Essentials (5 Courses)

This is a classroom-based course. Participants will receive training and be evaluated on the following topics:

● Introduction to the AODA
Accessibility standards relevant to worker responsibilities as mandated by the Accessibility for Ontarian with Disabilities Act (AODA). This is mandatory training for all employers and employees in Ontario. This includes government, private, and not-for-profit organizations.

● WHMIS/GHS
An introduction to the Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System and the Globally Harmonized System for hazard classification. Mandatory in Ontario for any worker who may be exposed to hazardous materials at work.

● Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Understanding which PPE is required for different jobs. How to effectively select and use equipment to minimize the risk of injury.

● Violence & Harassment in the Workplace
How to recognize, assess, and minimize the threat of violence and harassment in the workplace. Ontario employers must provide workers with appropriate employee education on the workplace's violence and harassment prevention policies.

● New Worker Awareness: Rights and responsibilities of workers
Introduction to workplace health and safety that meets the training requirements of the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA). Mandatory for all employees in Ontario.

This course strongly emphasizes the importance of safety in the workplace. It is vital that workers, supervisors, and employers become familiar with the occupational hazards that can affect them and those around them.
